"YAFAL POWER TRIO"

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH
ENRIQUE GÓMEZ YAFAL
 First Part
Interview & Article: Adriana Rubio

Enrique Gómez Yafal is a well known musician from Buenos Aires, Argentina, one of the most respected artists in the local industry for his trajectory and never ending creativity. Enrique’s passion for music is what makes his everyday living so exciting.

Musically, Enrique Gómez Yafal has entertained the local rock scene to a great extent as the singer and main songwriter for Kamikaze, Cuero and KZ4 for several years. He has worked with astonishing and killing-riff-solo-playing guitarists like Miguel Oropeza, Martin Knye and Daniel Telis plus a very good level of bass players such as Gustavo Perugino, Horacio Cosseddu and Horacio Pinasco together with the strong and loud drumming touch of Claudio Parolari, Jorge Cimino and Roberto Ruiz.

“From Beatles, Queen and Pink Floyd to Emerson, Lake  & Palmer, Whitesnake and Judas Priest amongst many great others, I must admit that all my musical influences come from the Britain Rock scene. I haven’t listened to American music. I’ve been mainly focused on European music mostly English Rock, Hard Rock, Progressive Rock and Heavy Metal, and that’s what drives my songwriting and keeps my rock style this way, no matter which band”.

“I started playing guitar at the age of 9, and at 12 I had my first band. Every band I was in during my teen’s years I was the leader. Looking back, there’s no doubt I had this “leading” stuff as part of my personality that I kept away from for a long time as I happily adapted to work with  amazing lead guitarists while in Kamikaze: Miguel Oropeza, Damiel Telis and Martín Knye. I met many gifted ones that I worked with over the years, you know Miguel Oropeza's been the main songwriter on the first Kamikaze album, and Christian Vidal for the band "Cuero", now he is kinda  Swedish guitarist playing for THERION band. (Laughs). It really was a great time and I’m thankful for that. But now it’s time to do what I really want to do, so I picked up my guitar again!”

The newest musical project of guitarist-singer-songwriter Enrique Gómez Yafal is called “Yafal Power Trio”. The band lineup counts with experienced musicians coming from outstanding musical backgrounds too.

Enrique Yafal: Guitars & lead singing
Gustavo Perugino: Bass
Paulo Dacal: Drums

“Yafal Power Trio” was formed in early 2015, and in August of the same year the first video clip for the song “Como Lluvia en la Ciudad” (“Like Rain in the City”) came out successfully receiving encouraging feedback from the audience. The clip reached thousands views in just one week. The release of the second video clip for the song “Gastado” (“Tired”) was presented on VORTERIX METAL in November 2015.

From January to March 2016 members of “Yafal Power Trio” were all together at Yafal’s recording studio working on the band’s first debut EP. Recording, mixing and mastering tasks have been professionally managed by Enrique Gómez Yafal

DRUMMER NICK MENZA

Release date July 23rd, 2016

Just two days before his passing, former MEGADETH drummer Nick Menza and SceneFour announced a new art release which was to be made available on June 16.

Understandably, SceneFour and Nick's family postponed the release for a later time. On July 23, which would have been Nick's 52nd birthday, this art release — now titled "Influx" (formerly "Rhythm Hits The Wall") — will be available.

SceneFour is the team responsible for the "Rhythm-On-Canvas" medium, having released blockbuster art collections over the last five years with a highly select group of drumming legends, including Bill Ward (BLACK SABBATH) , Rick Allen (DEF LEPPARD), Mickey Hart (GRATEFUL DEAD), Jose Pasillas (INCUBUS), Dave Lombardo (SLAYER) and Frankie Banali (QUIET RIOT).

The process of creating artwork from rhythm is an extensive one that begins with the drummer utilizing a bevy of drumsticks that light in a variety of ways similar to that of a painter utilizing brushes with different colors. In the creation process, the drummer is crafting rhythms that translate visually to abstract imagery before they are brought into the SceneFour studio, manipulated meticulously, and laid to canvas.

Those interested in learning more and getting an early preview of "Influx" are encouraged to join the interest list at www.nickmenzaart.com

Nick collapsed after suffering a heart attack after the third song of OHM:'s set on May 21 at The Baked Potato in Studio City, California and was pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital. He was 51 years old.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner said Menza died of natural causes. The cause of Menza's death was listed as hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Menza had reportedly dabbled with drugs in the earlier part of his career but had been completely sober for eight years.

Menza joined MEGADETH for the 1989 recording "Rust In Peace" and for the next nine years became associated with the band's "classic" and most profitable era.

“There is nothing in this world you can't do if you love it enough. Dream big and make it happen”…
(Tame The Sun)

Australians rockers “Tame The Sun” are releasing “ONE” on July 11th, 2016, a powerful debut EP inspired by dreams, love and freedom to beautify the crazy world we live in with a high amount of great tunes to rock and head-bang!

Guitarist Dean Williams had this music project in mind for years and never gave up hope that he would find the right way to make it happen.

Dean Williams was in California some years ago and during his time there he was invited to play as a guest musician some gigs at The Rainbow, and some other venues in LA. Dean received some interesting offers to become a signed solo artist in the States, but he decided to return back to his hometown in Australia to perfect his product. This particular experience is what gave birth to a single titled “Back In The Game” which was released last year.

“I had the idea of Tame The Sun years ago… The guys I wanted to be in the band were not available. I then decided to make a solo project so I could give people a taste of the thing I was trying to create”.

“The guys in my band are all respected musicians and long time friends of mine. The way timing and fate had it the guys I wanted were available and it naturally progressed into Tame The Sun”.

Tame The Sun lineup:

Dean Williams - Vocals/Guitar
Ripley Smith - Guitar/Vocals
Simon Klaaysen – Bass
Anthony Troiano – Drums

Aside from his musical career, Dean Williams is a skillful martial artist who won a number of interesting fights using Muay Thai techniques, and also is an airplane pilot. Ripley Smith is a full time musician and runs one of Melbourne's best rehearsal studio complexes. Simon Klaaysen the bass player is also an airplane pilot, and Anthony Troiano is a jeweler to celebrities, his clients include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Fox, Tommy Lee, Cara Delavene and Adam Lambert amongst many others.

“The guys are all very driven and passionate people”

Tame The Sun’s debut EP “ONE” was professionally recorded at Lighthill Recording Studios in Melbourne, Australia. All tracks engineered by music producer Ricki Rae.

TRACK LISTING:

  1. BURN
  2. SLICK STATE
  3. BACK IN THE GAME
  4. GOTTA BELIEVE
  5. HAUNTED
“ONE” the debut EP by Tame The Sun is filled with that kind of haunting guitar riffs that won’t go away easily and memorable melodies that will make you sing right after the first listen of “Burn”, “Back In The Game” and “Haunted”. Drumming and bass playing reach the highest rock beat level on “Slick State” as in a top live gig, the same goes for “Gotta Believe”, however this track is not about the beat level but more on the groovy structure, perfect touch and artistic connection between these two, and this is what makes Tame The Sun work as “ONE”

All tracks are highlighted by the old fashioned rock school of Jimi Hendrix, Aerosmith, AC/DC and Lenny Kravitz in modern times combining also a bit of alternative tunes in the style of Velvet Revolver. Although the five tracks are all original compositions, they really pay homage to the greatest musical influences of all time.

“Dream Big and Make It Happen”.
“Let the band guide you”.
“You Gotta Believe”
